Today was an interesting day. I was so tired this morning to the point I was afraid that I would fall asleep in church. I wasn't the only one. A lady at church, stood up and explained to the church that she was tired and had fallen asleep behind the wheel on the way to church, she also apologized in advance for if she was to fall asleep during the service. Crazy right? Well I didn't fall asleep.
My dad didn't preach today. Brother Buck did. You see, Brother Buck is what they call a "in your face" preacher, he also makes a weird noise when he inhales. Anyway, I happened to be sitting in a pew in front of two babies. I looked behind me and there laid Noah. His dad passed him to me. Earlier, Noah had been pulling my hair, but the minute he was in my arms, he started grabbing my face. Well, later, Noah was just sitting in my lap, then the fountain came. I wasn't grossed out or anything, I'm pretty used to babies and their disposal of food. But not only did he puke once, but he puked five times on me, and twice on my mother. After one of Noah's episodes, I went to the bathroom and asked myself "Why? Why during the most inconvenient times?" Then came Elizabeth. She puked on me twice, but not nearly as much as Noah.
I ended my afternoon with a baptism. That was nice. Three were baptized today. I learned something abominable. But God is going to take care of that, and He will help me to make the best decision for me. But until then, I will be aware of puking babies.

Totally Epic
Totally Epic is the name of a cartoon created by Tina Bunting and Erin Wells. The cartoon is about strange adventures the two have.
So far, only two episodes have been completed, "The Time Travel Stone" and "Tina the Rapper."
In "The Time Travel Stone," Tina and Erin discover a time travel stone and travel to the past, and then to the future. They have an encounter with a dinosaur, the plague, the 90's, and the future, where world peace is established, no world hunger, and a cure for cancer.
In "Tina the Rapper," Tina decides to become a professional rapper. Tina lands her a gig, and fails. Chinese kids, "The Communist Crew", are featured singing "Happy Birthday." Tina realizes that rapping isn't her calling and Erin decides to pursue her country music career.
The show is humorous and displays the talents of Tina and Erin. I look forward to new episodes!

Brand New You
I'm very excited about the upcoming school year. I'm anxious to see familiar and unfamiliar faces. I have been around the same people all summer. Now, this is not a bad thing, but I'm ready to see the friends I have not seen since the last day of school, and to see the way they've changed.
Summer brings changes. Some good, some bad. My change this year is a better attitude towards school, friends, and family. I have also gotten closer to God this summer.
I'm entering my Freshman year of high school. New faces, new school, new experiences, new me.
I have decided to make this year a wonderful year. To try my best is one of the many goals I have set myself for this year. I'm also planning on studying for tests.
I've always been on top of things until seventh grade. I started slacking a bit. Sleeping in class, not doing homework, and simply not trying. I still got by with A's, so that was a good thing. In eighth grade, that bit me square on the behind. I received lower grades than I was used to. I tried, I really did. But I got behind terribly. I made it through though.
So this year a new Sarah is coming to town. She is going to take on anything high school throws at her. She is going to learn to love learning and be enthusiastic about being at school. She has taken on new responsibilities for this Fall and hopes to fulfill them. It's time for a brand new me.

Skunday School and Unexpected Blessings
The "Skunday" part wasn't a typo. It's in honor of the little ones at church that can't talk clearly. I love little kids. Today at church they sang "If You're Happy and You Know it." Most of the kids were not enthusiastic but a few stuck out when it came to being enthused. I got many blessings out of my Sunday, but that was just one.
My Sunday began in my Sunday School class. We talked about making a difference and reaching out to someone. Doing a simple deed or even just saying, "Jesus loves you" can brighten someone's day. I want to do more for people and demonstrate God's love. I also want to share more with friends about Christ. I've been told countless times there is no greater thing you can do for your friends than to tell them about God's love for them and how to have eternal life with Christ.
Every once in a while, a request is made for the pastor to open the doors of the church. Last night, two attendees of my church, got saved at a youth rally, and became members this morning. To see someone saved is very touching and I cried tears of joy. It was a wonderful way to start the service.
Then the worship service began. The little kids sang. I reminisced on the days when I was up there singing "If You're Happy and You Know It." Then we moved on to congregational singing and then to where people sing when God lays something upon their heart. I've learned a lot lately about the strength of God and I know a hymn about Him being stronger than mortals and that the answer to everything created is God . God was calling me to share this with the church. We sometimes forget just how big He is. The chorus of the song goes:
"It takes somebody strong and tall to hang the stars so high, Or paint the morning sky, or make a sparrow fly. There is an answer to it all and you've never heard, don't ever doubt my word, it's bound to be the Lord."
I finished the song, and that's when it happened. We have women at her church that over do it on the decor. Anyway there was a pot of flowers beside the altar. A leaf thing got caught on my shirt and brought the whole plant with it. The congregation laughed, and going back to what I said in my last blog, I laughed too. It was pretty funny.
Now on to the preaching. My Dad's a preacher and the whole stereotype about preacher's kids being wild is NOT true. In my case anyway. Well today he started in Malichi chapter three. Then he went on to talk about change and fear. Usually my dad is laid back, but today he was stern with the congregation. Today's sermon got my attention, and I soaked in every word of it.
Today, I also went to the nursing home to share the love of God. Once a month, my church hosts a little church service there in the afternoon. I enjoyed it, it's something I love to do. Although my mood did get spoiled a little bit, God brought me back to reality and my attitude made a complete turnaround. I visited with a 105 year old woman. I visit her sometimes with my grandma. She's a sweet, Godly woman who knows how to make your day. With a big smile on my face, my grandma and I sang "You Are My Sunshine" to her. She loved it. She had a big grin on her face and had tears in her eyes. Knowing I brightened her day, made my own day even brighter. I bidded her goodbye with a kiss on the cheek. She kissed my hand as I left the room and told me to come back. I assured her that I would be back real soon.
I was told by Kenny Lockhart that my experiences at church would be more fulfilling if I expected to get something out of the service. Well today I did just that and he was right. I got many blessings out of today alone.
So part of the title of this blog is "Unexpected Blessings." That comes from the unexpectedness of my cousin getting pregnant. This was exciting news for our family. I know she'll be a great mom. They didn't know they were ready, But God is blessing her and her husband with the experience of the miracle of life.
I hope to continue having these "Jesus-filled" days. They do me good and the people around me. I was complimented on my smile by a Pentecostal preacher. I never realized just how much an impact just a smile and a little song can have on someone until today. They too have an impact on me.

Fun
I like to have fun. Who doesn't? Fun is something that provides amusement. I am one who is amused by the simplest of things. Anything from a simple card game, to an outdoor sport, I find enjoyment.
Some of my favorite things to do for fun include sewing, reading, singing karaoke on Youtube, stacking toilet paper at the Dollar General, waving at strangers on the interstate, writing cheesy poems that never get read by anyone but me, trying on clothes that are too overpriced, taking silly pictures with friends showing just how crazy we are, playing Apples to Apples, cleaning my room just for the satisfaction of accomplishing something, and playing games at Chuck E. Cheese for countless hours. Yeah, I know, I'm weird.
Very few of these are done alone. Many friends and family come into play with the word "fun." In my opinion, fun is better shared. To share memories and inside jokes, is one of many things that keep my friends and I close. No matter how often I am with a friend of mine, the fun never ends.
Fun can be established anywhere. My "fun" list contains actions held in various places. And even as boring school can be, there is hardly a day at school where I don't experience a spark of fun. Lunch table conversations are usually anything but boring.
I tend to laugh and poke fun at myself on a daily basis. I'm very clumsy so I often fall and trip over things. I also make myself look pretty dumb constantly. Usually when I fall, trip, etc., all I know to do is laugh with the ones laughing at me. When I say something stupid, I realize my blunder and I of course laugh at myself. Perfection is not in my list of fun things. Being imperfect is what makes me human and what makes life enjoyable.
I think that some people don't have fun and don't have days that they enjoy, simply because they don't expect or seek fun. I think if you seek fun, you're going to have fun. Fun is happiness. Therefore, I think the world be a brighter place if everyone would seek fun and try to enjoy life. Do yourself a favor, live live to its fullest. Enjoy life while you've got it. And never forget to thank God for the life He's given you.
"Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human."
